Tsunami MP.11a is based on OFDM modulation technique and enables Near Line Of Sight configurations, opening a broader application of the solution is areas where Proxim did not have a appropriate solution.

The system allows operation in not only the 5.725-5.850 GHz frequency band but also the 5.25-5.35 GHz and the 5.47 – 5725 GHz frequencies, allowing these products to be used in the majority of European countries, which opens a complete new market for us.

Tsunami MP.11a provides up to 54 Mbps data rates and when used in Turbo mode (FCC only) the system can support up to 108 Mbps data rates.

The effective bandwidth of the system is more than 30 Mbps, which is higher than any of our competitors. Additionally the range is better than competition, through the combination of strong receiver sensitivities of the radio and the WORP technology.

WORP

Tsunami MP.11a is based on the Tsunami MP.11 system using Proxim’s own WORP protocol, providing a very strong platform that combines a best-in-class performance for the best price.

OFDM

The Tsunami MP.11a supports OFDM, Transmit Power Control and Dynamic Frequency selection and Link Test, allowing the product to run according to the HiperLAN 2 (802.11h) requirements for use in ETSI countries

Subscriber density

The Tsunami MP.11a Base Station supports 100 Subscriber Units simultaneously. The subscriber units can be either residential subscriber units or business-class subscriber units.

Transmit Power Control

Being an OFDM system Tsunami MP.11a support Transmit Power Control. This feature can be used to increase the overall system gain of the solution, just by lowering the Tx power and using higher gain antenna and achieve higher distances. The transmit power can be reduced with maximum 10 dB allowing the use for higher gain antennas, increasing the range of the solution.

Data rate

Tsunami MP.11a provides up to 54 Mbps data rates. This data rate can be reduced to fir the customer’s needs and when the distance is large. The data rate can be set to the following rates: 54 Mbps, 48 Mbps, 36 Mbps, 24 Mbps, 12 Mbps, 9 Mbps, 6 Mbps.

In FCC countries the system is allowed to run Turbo mode, which doubles the data rate. This enables the system to go up to 108 Mbps.
